Early Career

Property has been at the centre of my career since the age of 18, but it has been at the centre of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I spent countless hours accompanying my father to development sites, learning first-hand how projects came together from the ground up. Conversations around the dinner table often revolved around property, planning and development, so it was perhaps inevitable that I would eventually follow the same path.

I began my professional career as a land agent, sourcing and selling development opportunities to housebuilders and developers across the UK. This gave me an early understanding of what makes a successful development and how great schemes are brought to life. At 22, I specialised in Stamp Duty Land Tax, helping developers identify savings and improve the viability of development projects. I later joined the family business, working alongside my father to source and sell student accommodation and private rented sector investments to institutional and capital market investors.

Taking the Helm

Following this, I established a consultancy business advising developers on how to start, scale and grow successful development companies. Through this work I gained experience across every stage of the development process, from land acquisition and funding through to delivery and sales.

In 2024, I took over Cassidy Homes. My father had chosen to focus on larger institutional development projects rather than housebuilding, but I wasn't prepared to see the Cassidy Homes legacy come to an end. At a time when increasing regulation, rising costs and market uncertainty continue to make life more difficult for independent housebuilders, I saw an opportunity rather than an obstacle.

Housebuilding has always been my passion. While today's development landscape presents significant challenges, I believe smaller developers play a vital role in creating better homes, stronger communities and more diverse housing choices. Continuing and growing Cassidy Homes was my way of ensuring that a family business built over 35 years could continue to make a meaningful contribution for generations to come.

Build Up

This belief also led me to establish BuildUp, a development growth partner created to support SME developers with funding, expertise and strategic guidance. The development industry can be difficult to navigate alone, but together we can create momentum, challenge the dominance of volume housebuilders and help bring more high-quality, locally focused developments to market.

"Today, I lead Cassidy Homes with a simple ambition: to build exceptional homes that people are proud to own, while continuing the family legacy that first inspired my love of property all those years ago."
